More questions please send to isdb@jobatsea.com How does it work? - Employers section You must register first by filling in the registration form with the details of your company. Once you are registered you can login with your username and password. After you login you have the options to search the database by criteria or publish Job Offers. When you find a seafarer who meets your requirements, you can leave a message for him. Keep in mind that all seafarer's profiles that you will see on your search are no older that 5 days. When the seafarer who you left a message to logs in he/she will see your message and your company details. At this point the seafarer may decide to contact you directly by phone, fax, etc or may reply to your message. The seafarer may also authorize you to see his/her contact details. The next time you login you will be notified about this authorization and can contact the seafarer from your end. Once you have established communication with the seafarer you can negociate eventual employment directly. back to top How do we sign up? - Employers section Choose REGISTER from the menu on the top or from the left-hand-side menu. Choose registration as an Employer. Fill in the form with your Company details and press the submit button. Keep in mind that you must specify workable contact details to enable the seafarers to contact you. back to top How to edit the data in our Company's profile? - Employers section You can edit or delete your Company's profile at any time. Login and click on EDIT from the menu on the top. If you delete your profile all information about your Company, including published Job Offers and messages left to seaferers will be permanently erased from the database. back to top How much does it cost? - Employers section All services of iSDB are free of charge. We do not charge any fees neither from the Employers nor from the seafarers. back to top Who will see our Company details? - Employers section If you publish a Job Offer your Company details (including contact numbers) will be attached to it and will be available to see for anyone who sees your Job Offer. If you leave a message to a seafarer you Company details will be available to him to see. back to top How long does our membership last? - Employers section Your membership is valid for 1 year from the date of registration or revalidation (editing) of your Company profile. This basically means that every time you edit your profile your subscription is renewed for one more year. back to top How to terminate our membership? - Employers section You can terminate your subscription and delete your profile at any time. Login and choose EDIT from the menu on the top. Then click the Completely DELETE my Company's profile in iSDB link on the bottom. back to top How can we contact a seafarer? - Employers section When you leave a message to a seafarer it is most likely that he will contact you first. However, the seafarer may reply to your message with his/her contact details or he/she can authorize you to see his contact details from the iSDB. The next time you login you will be notified about this authorization and you will be able to contact the seafarer from your end. back to top How can one be sure that the seafarer is available? - Employers section Each profile of a seaferer in the iSDB is only active for 5 days from the date of registration or the date of revalidation. This means that every seafarer's profile that you will see in the iSDB has been attended by the seafarer within the past 5 days. This gives a pretty good chance that the seafarer is still around. back to top How does it work? - Seafarers section You must register first. Fill in the registration form carefully. Keep in mind that the more details you provide about you and your sea service background the better. Once you have registered your profile will be available to many Maritime Companies to see. The Employers can search the database by criteria. If these criteria match your profile they will see your profile (without your names, address and contact information). back to top How do I sign up? - Seafarers section Choose REGISTER from the menu on the top or from the left-hand-side menu. Choose registration as a Seafarer. Fill in the form with your data and press the submit button. Keep in mind that the more details you provide about you and your sea service background the better. back to top How to edit the data in my profile? - Seafarers section You can edit or delete your profile at any time. Login and click on EDIT from the menu on the top. If you delete your profile all information about you, including any messages from employers to you, will be permanently erased from the database. back to top How long does my membership last? - Seafarers section When you register your profile will be active for 5 days. After that it will be disabled and not available for Employers to see. You can keep your profile alive by logging in to iSDB at least once on every 5 days and click on Quick Revalidate link. The point of this exercise is to give some guarantee to the Employers that your profile is fresh and you are still available for employment. We wouldn't like to waste Employers time, would we? back to top How to terminate my membership? - Seafarers section You can terminate your subscription and delete your profile at any time. Login and choose EDIT from the menu on the top. Then click the Completely DELETE my profile in iSDB link on the bottom. back to top Who will see my details? - Seafarers section Your personal data in iSDB (such as full names, address, contact information as well as the dates of signing on/off in your sea service) is protected. This information will not be displayed to any user of the iSDB. If an Employer is interested in you and leaves you a message you can authorize him to see your full details, including contact numbers. Please give this authorization only to Employers which you trust - this is like Companies you have heard about or that look reliable enough. It is a good idea to first check the Employer's web site (if such provided). back to top How much does it cost? - Seafarers section All services of iSDB are free of charge. We do not charge any fees neither from the Employers nor from the seafarers. back to top How am I hired? - Seafarers section When you establish contact with an Employer, with the help of the iSDB, you can negociate eventual employment directly. The iSDB is not involved in anyway in any negociations between you and an Employer. The iSDB is also not responsible in anyway for the outcome of any such negociations. back to top What happens to my profile when I am hired? - Seafarers section Your profile will be disabled after 5 days since you last revalidate it. However, your data will not be deleted from the database. It will be kept for as long as 1,5 years. If you want to revalidate your profile later all you need to do is to login and edit your profile with the new sea service or other details. Please do not revalidate your profile while you are serving on board a ship... this will not make much good. back to top
