Internet Seafarers Database (iSDB). This is an Internet based
database of sea personnel and maritime companies. It is designed to help both employers and job seakers
to meet their interests for mutual benefit.
Search the iSDB by criterias
The iSDB collects data of seafarers looking for employment.
When a seafarer registers he is prompted to enter information about his/hers sea experinece, certificates,
estimated salary, duaration of contract, etc. The information is structured in a way that allows you to search the
database by criterias. This makes it easier and faster to find a person that best
meets your requirements.
How does it work
This is how the iSDB can help find the right person for the job...
You must register as an Employer by filling in the registration form.
When you log in to iSDB you can search the database by criterias.
If you find a suitable seafarer you can leave him/her a message.
The seafarer will see your message next time he/she logs in and may contact you directly.
The seafarer can also authorize you to see his/her contact details so that you can contact him/her from your end.
Once you have establised contact with the seafarer you can negociate eventual employment directly.
Fresh data only
The iSDB will maintain only fresh profiles of seafarers in the database. A seafarer's profile will only be
active for 5 days from the date of registration or the date of revalidation.
This will guarantee that all seafarers' profiles which you may be interested in are relatively
fresh and active.
Personal data is protected
The iSDB will offer you limited access to a seafarer's profile at first. This is to protect the seafarer's
private information (such as full name, address and contacts). However, the information you will see is
sufficient to do an initial judgement on the seafarer -- if suitable for the job. Then you have
the opportunity to leave a message to the seafarer which he/she will see when logging in to iSDB. The seafarer
will see your Company's profile and decide if interested in your proposal.
He/She may contact you directly over the phone, e-mail, etc. or authorize you to see his/hers contact
details. The next time you log in into iSDB you will see this authorisation and will be able to contact the
seafarer from your end as well.
Publish your Job Offers
You can also publish a job offer into iSDB. It will be viewable by all visitors of iSDB. Whoever may be
interested will be able to see your Company's details and contact you directly. You can take advantage of this
feature by publishing your job vacancies regularly and let seafarers contact you.
Free of charge
Please take a note that iSDB does not charge neither the Seafarers nor the Employers for its sevices. It has been
created with the only purpose to help the seafarers and the maritime industry. It is absolutely free to use.
